If you're using these kinds of plug-ins in a project, you can minimize the latency they produce while recording using Low Latency Mode. Low Latency Mode bypasses plug-ins as needed, so the amount of latency doesn't exceed the Limit setting in the Plug-in Latency section of the General Audio preferences of Logic Pro. Low latency mode is especially useful when you want to record a software instrument in a project that includes latency-inducing plug-ins. I use superior drummer for drums and bias for my guitar amp on a channel. Thanks for the help thus far and I look forward to more input. Reply Helpful 1 Thread reply - more options Link to this Post.

Those are excellent tutorials though. Feb 21, PM in response to Pancenter In response to Pancenter Does your system seem to have latency if you leave it up a day or two?

Feb 21, PM in response to thisisdave In response to thisisdave Dave, as a work-around Whatever you do, don't set the buffer size to 32, keep it at or 64 minimum No, my system does not do this but it's an older MacPro running an older operating system and Logic 9, I use only Firewire or an Internal PCIe card for audio.

Does it seem that the interface is the issue here? To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. But I have severe latency problems. In Logic X it partly crackles and sometimes even stops playing. While playing a track I cannot scroll with my bluetooth mouse without producing severe latency effects. When I shut off the interface and only use the onboard soundcard everything is fine. I contacted forums and eventually Steinberg support, an I tried everything I was recommended: Giving it more Buffer, activating low latency, installing a new driver, freezing tracks in logic, turning off wifi and bluetooth.

It doesn't accomplish anything, still the same problem. A guy on the Steinberg forum told me, he had the same problem and downgraded his OS down to Maverick. And then it all worked fine. Posted on Oct 2, PM. Page content loaded. Start with a clean project nothing heavy couple of software instrument tracks a couple of audio track.

If the problem is still there, do you know anyone you can borrow a powered USB 2. Audio Interface into USB hub, hub into computer. Oct 2, PM. I tried the steps you recommended and then loaded some tracks, where I had the worst latency problems.

It seems to be far better now, but it's not completely gone. I still haven't recorded any new stuff yet. There is still the problem with horizontal scrolling with the mouse though, but it's far better now. I think this could be an acceptable level for recording I'm not scrolling while I'm playing guitar.

BTW: Multithreading shows me a max of 4 in my settings. The CPU meter showed me 2 bars, I set it to 4 tracks in the settings, just to try. One bar in "Audio" is pretty busy while the others are not at all. I will check the USB hub.

To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question. II have a problem with latency of some sort. It seems to affect my audio and midi. Sometimes I've fixed it by shutting down logic and re-opening. Then it creeps in again. Other times like now it didn't make much difference. I've used logic before on an earlier mac without much of an issue but this new mac isn't playing nice go figure.

Posted on Feb 15, PM. Page content loaded. Feb 15, PM in response to thisisdave In response to thisisdave. Are you using any latency causing plugins on the master track?

Feb 15, PM. I've noticed the issue without about no plugins. Later would add things like compression etc. Feb 16, PM. Feb 16, PM in response to thisisdave In response to thisisdave. Yes, 32 will have less latency but that's not your problem, in fact, it could be adding to the problem. Stabilize your system first, did you set the recording delay to 94 samples? If so why? Feb 17, PM. Feb 17, PM in response to thisisdave In response to thisisdave. One thing I've noticed also is that if I leave my computer up with logic and come back a day or two later to record there's more latency.

If I shut re-boot logic it seems much tighter. Never had this issue prior but something I've noticed with this issue also. Under processing threads, where it says auto, click and hold and you should see sets of numbers.. What ever the largest number is let's say 8 set it to half that.

Then close Logic, reboot the computer and see if the latency stays away. There was a 2 and a 4 when I click and hold. So far so good. Thx for the help. Feb 18, PM. If you haven't chanced upon macprovideo I highly recommend it. I have learned a lot from this awesome tutorial site. Feb 20, AM. Feb 20, AM in response to animist08 In response to animist I think Dave's latency issue is different than the standard latency problems, I could be wrong but the latency he's experiencing is not consistent and has possibly do with his setup, system or audio interface, time will tell. Does your system seem to have latency if you leave it up a day or two? Mine does.

I re-boot Logic and then it seems fine. Odd as I don't recall this issue prior to the new mac. Feb 21, PM. Feb 21, PM in response to thisisdave In response to thisisdave. Dave, as a work-around Does that help? I avoid USB at all costs. To be honest, I think USB is weak protocol for audio.

OK, I'm using a roland quad capture that I haven't hd issues with for years. Thinking about changing my interface to thunderbolt which I believe is way faster than both usb and firewire. Feb 23, PM. I will check the USB hub. Powered means, it has got an external power supply plug? Is USB 3. Oct 3, AM. Oct 3, AM in response to kerochan In response to kerochan. Ok, a couple of things It's a specific behavior, not all delays are latency in the sense we're speaking of.

Ok, so it improved You should be able to check System Preferences and find out. If you do have a dual graphics adapter it needs to be set you use hardware only. Is that a problem? Your MacBook -may- have two kinds of graphics adapters, internal to the computer Note, if you have two graphics adapters they will probably be different models than the ones listed below, those are from an older MBP.

Also, yes, the external display could be causing a problem, depending on how large the display is.
